The Metals:
Gold gained $8.90 to $1234.10 in early New York trade before it fell back towards unchanged by midday, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.56%. Silver rose to as high as $15.628 and ended with a gain of 0.78%.
Euro gold climbed above €1050, platinum gained $11 to $842, and copper climbed 5 cents to about $2.84.
Gold and silver equities rose almost 1% at the open before they quickly fell to find slight losses, but then then climbed back higher into the close and ended near their session highs.

The Markets:
Oil climbed over 1% after The Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 6.1 million barrels, gasoline inventories fell 2.3 million barrels, and distillates fell 100,000 barrels.
The U.S. dollar index dropped on concerns about Trump’s talks with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.
Treasuries closed lower as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P rose on mostly better than expected earnings reports.
Among the big names making news in the market today were GrubHub, Fiat Chrysler, UPS, and Facebook.
