The Metals:
Gold saw modest gains in Asia before it dipped back to $1189.20 in London, but it then jumped to as high as $1208.30 in late morning New York trade and ended with a gain of 1.14%. Silver rose to as high as $14.908 and ended with a gain of 1.24%.
Euro gold climbed above €1041, platinum gained $10 to $829, and copper climbed 2 cents to about $2.80.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 3% by midday and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

The Markets:
Oil ended slightly lower ahead of tomorrow’s inventory data.
The U.S. dollar index rose along with treasuries on renewed concerns about Italy.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P waffled near unchanged on mixed company news and fed comments.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Stitch Fix, Facebook, Amazon, and PepsiCo.
