The Metals:
Gold traded mostly higher in Asia before it dropped back to $1197.80 in London, but it then shot back up in New York and ended near its early afternoon high of $1216.30 with a gain of 0.85%. Silver slipped to as low as $13.894 in London, but it then climbed to as high as $14.19 in New York and ended with a gain of 1.14%.
Euro gold rose above €1070, platinum lost $3 to $833, and copper climbed a couple of cents to about $2.71.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 3% by about 1PM EST and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow brings Weekly jobless claims, Retail sales, the Philly Fed, the Empire state index, Import prices, and Business inventories.
The Markets:
Oil gained 1% ahead of tomorrow’s inventory report.
The U.S. dollar index fell as the euro and pound rose on Brexit hopes and optimism over the resubmission of Italy’s 2019 budget.
Treasuries climbed higher as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P erased notable morning gains and ended almost 1% lower on economic uncertainty.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Apple, PG&E, Blue Apron, Canopy Growth, Tilray, SurveyMonkey, and Walmart.
