The Metals:
Gold chopped up to $1247.10 at about 1PM EST before it fell back off into midafternoon, but it then rallied back higher into the close and ended with a gain of 0.23%. Silver rose to as high as $14.794 and ended with a gain of 1.31%.
Euro gold fell under €1096, platinum gained $21 to $801, and copper remained at about $2.77.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 2% by midmorning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

The Markets:
Oil fell almost 1% after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell just 1.2 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 2.1 million barrels, and distillates fell 1.5 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index dropped as the euro and pound rose “on expectations U.K. Prime Minster Theresa May would survive a vote of no-confidence over her leadership of the Conservative Party.”
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P gained almost 1% “after a series of developments boosted expectations that a U.S.-China trade deal could be reached in the coming months.”
Among the big names making news in the market today were Lowe’s, Under Armour, CVS, Toyota, Intel, and Tencent.
