The Metals:
Gold gained $24.30 to a new 5-month high at $1266.30 by early afternoon in New York before it chopped back lower into the close, but it still ended with a gain of 1.53%. Silver rose to as high as $14.841 and ended with a gain of 1.3%.
Euro gold rose above €1100, platinum gained $9 to $793, and copper remained at about $2.69.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 5% in the first hour of trade and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

Tomorrow brings GDP, Durable goods orders, Core capex orders, Personal income and spending, Core inflation, and Consumer sentiment.
The Markets:
Oil dropped almost 5% and the U.S. dollar index fell markedly along with the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P on disappointing earnings reports, fears of a government shutdown, and worries about slowing economic growth.
Treasuries edged lower as interest rates remained firm after yesterday’s fed announcement.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Apple, Blackberry, Tilray, and Altria.
